Oil on plaster ceiling, 600cm x 800cm (approx.), destroyed by developers in 2018.

Commissioned. Sold.

This large ceiling mural was commissioned by the owners of the Hardimans Cafe, Bar and Restaurant, Rick and Kristy. I spent 6 months up on a scaffold, lying on a mattress with a paintbrush in hand, creating this enormous artwork whilst people wandered in, had a drink or a meal and watched me. The idea was create entertainment and a lasting tribute to the community. The artwork was focused on capturing all the different types of meeting places in the neighbourhood (Kensington, Melbourne, Australia). The central paintings were the exterior and interior scenes of The Hardiman's. In the bar, the locals are assembled on one side with the owners on the other. It was called 'The Last Drink' and was a comic reference to 'The Last Supper' by Da Vinci and the Sistine Chapel ceiling by Michaelangelo.

The artwork no longer exists. However, photographs of the ceiling were taken. So it has been recorded and archived.
